Clubs and ActivitiesDid you know Pope John Paul II School has an amazing variety of clubs and groups? At Pope John Paul II School we have a truly dedicated staff that is focused on providing students with a variety of opportunities and extracurricular activities including clubs and groups. We have a number of clubs and groups in that children can participate in during nutrition breaks and after school. Here is a listing of some of our clubs and groups:

Art Club

The Art Club provides students with the opportunity to explore a variety of art mediums from water-colour paintings to plaster paris with faith-based themes. Art Club is designed to open children's minds and to explore and tap into their creativity all while having fun.

Anti Bullying Club

The Anti Bullying Club has a core group of students that welcomes visitors and drop ins. The group discusses how to create a harmonious school climate and does initiatives in the school to bring awareness to bullying.

Student Council

The Pope John Paul II School Student Council is an amazing opportunity for students to really gain a sense of leadership and community development. Students are able to join the student council starting in Grade 4, by being a classroom representative and to student elected positions such as secretary, treasurer and president. Student Council plays a large role in planning and carrying out a variety of events in our school from spirit days, to pajama and hat days, to outdoor activity days and a variety of fundraisers. The student council is a great avenue for students to have a voice in their school community and create an atmosphere of fun and friendship!

Choir

The Choir Club is a group of students in Grades 3 to 6 who meet once a week to sing together. The group learns various songs throughout the year and then performs for the school.

Dance Club

Dance Club is a place where our students can explore movement through dance and music. In Dance Club the school community comes together to develop positive mental health through and a lot of fun through dance.

Environmental Earth Angels

The Environmental Earth Angels Club is for students in Grades 3 - 6 and is created to implement and promote the school's recycling program. This club is focused on educating the school community on how to work together towards a sustainable future.

Floor Hockey

Our Floor Hockey group is focused on fun and on having positive interactions amongst teammates and well as opponents. This group is focused on developing skills, physical fitness and confidence.

Cross Country Ski Club

In the winter months our Cross Country Ski Club heads outside for some fresh air and one of the best forms of exercise. This group is focused on developing cross country ski skills while having fun and developing new friendships. Cross Country Skiing is a holistic and balanced activity and is one of the most healthy and beneficial sports there is.

Peer Pals

Peer Pals is a school-based program for students in Grades 5 and 6 to take on a leadership role in planning games and activities at recess time for students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. The goal of the Peer Pals program is to promote cooperation and social skills through inclusion on the playground so all students feel safe, happy and included in the school community. It also provides an opportunity for the senior students to develop and practice their leadership skills.

Walking Club

Our Walking Club is for any students in grade 4, 5,6 who want to get exercise. It promotes a healthy, active lifestyle and gives students the energy to maintain brain function and energy throughout the day.
